Vintage Durkee's spice tin set of three — Cayenne Pepper, Marjoram, and Ginger — all bearing the classic Durkee Famous Foods label from their Elmhurst, New York manufacturing period.

Each tin shows the signature yellow, green, and red color scheme with the Durkee's cursive script and the small oval Glidden Quality Products badge, which places these in the period after Glidden Co. purchased Durkee's in 1929 and before the brand moved production out of Elmhurst.

Positives

  • All three tins present and matching — same label era, same color scheme
  • Lithographed label graphics are readable and largely intact on all three
  • Durkee's script, spice names, Glidden badge, and Elmhurst, NY text all clearly visible
  • Rectangular bodies hold their shape — no significant crushing or denting visible

  • Ginger tin shows additional label edge wear and partial label loss on one side
  • Bottom panels show oxidation and general age marks

Collector's Notes

The Glidden badge and Elmhurst, NY address are the key dating markers on these tins. Glidden acquired Durkee's in 1929 and eventually moved production, so Elmhurst-labeled Glidden-era pieces represent a specific slice of the brand's history. All three tins matching in color, label style, and era makes this a stronger display set than single tins typically are.

If you collect vintage kitchen advertising tins or want something for a farmhouse kitchen display that has real age behind it, this set is worth a close look.
