At Reading Vintage, I respect your privacy and handle your information with care. This policy explains what information I collect, how I use it, and when I share it when you visit my website, make a purchase, contact me, or otherwise use my store. My store runs on Shopify. If this policy and my Terms of Service ever disagree, this policy controls when it comes to your personal information.

1. Information I Collect
Depending on how you use my store, I may collect:
Contact details: your name, billing and shipping address, phone number, and email address
Payment information: card and transaction details, processed securely through Shopify and its payment providers
Account information: your username, password, and preferences, if you create an account
Order information: items you view, add to your cart, purchase, return, or cancel, and your past orders
Messages you send me, such as customer service questions
Device information: your browser, IP address, and device identifiers
Usage information: how you browse and interact with my website

2. Where This Information Comes From
Directly from you, when you place an order, create an account, or contact me
Automatically, through cookies and similar technology when you visit my website
From service providers who help run my store, such as Shopify
From partners or other third parties

3. How I Use Your Information
To process and ship your order, including returns and cancellations
To communicate with you about your order or account
To answer your questions
To remember your preferences and suggest items related to what you've viewed or bought
To send marketing emails, if you've subscribed
To show you ads for my store on other websites, based on your activity in my store

4. Legal Bases for Using Your Information
Depending on where you live, I rely on these legal bases:
To perform my contract with you, such as completing and delivering your order
To comply with legal obligations, including tax and recordkeeping requirements
For legitimate business interests, such as preventing fraud and improving customer service
With your consent, where consent is required, such as for marketing emails

5. Who I Share Your Information With
I share your information only for legitimate business reasons, including with:
Shopify, which powers my store
Payment processors, to process your payment
Shipping carriers, to deliver your order
Service providers who help run my store, such as analytics, email, customer support, and cloud storage
Advertising and marketing partners, to show you ads for my store. These partners use your information under their own privacy policies.
Others, when you ask me to, such as shipping to a gift address or using a social media login
Legal authorities, when required by law, or to enforce my policies and protect my rights, customers, or business
A buyer or successor, if my business is ever sold, merged, or transferred

6. Targeted Advertising and Your Opt Out
Some privacy laws treat sharing information for targeted advertising as a "sale" or "share" of personal information. Depending on where you live, you can opt out here: [OPT-OUT LINK]

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, I treat it as an opt out request for that browser and device, and for your Shopify account if the signal can be linked to it. You can learn more at https://globalprivacycontrol.org/. I don't respond to other "Do Not Track" signals.

7. My Relationship With Shopify
Shopify hosts my store and processes information about how you use it. I also use some Shopify features that combine information from your visits to my store with information from other Shopify merchants and from Shopify itself. For those features, Shopify is responsible for handling your information, including responding to your privacy requests. You can read the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and use the Shopify Privacy Portal at https://privacy.shopify.com/en.

8. How Long I Keep Your Information
I keep your information only as long as I need it to fill orders, manage your account, resolve disputes, keep business and tax records, and meet legal obligations. In general, I keep order information for up to 4 years, unless the law requires longer.

9. Security
I take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no system is perfectly secure. Information sent online may not be secure in transit, so please don't send sensitive details like card numbers by email or text.

10. Children
My store is not meant for children, and I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of majority where they live. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has given me personal information, contact me and I'll delete it. I have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of anyone under 16.

11. International Transfers
Reading Vintage is based in the United States, and your information may be stored and processed outside the country where you live. If I transfer information out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, I rely on recognized transfer methods such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, unless the destination country is considered to provide adequate protection.

12. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
Access the personal information I hold about you
Correct inaccurate information
Delete your information
Receive a copy of your information, or have it transferred to someone else
Opt out of the sale or sharing of your information for targeted advertising
Object to or restrict certain uses of your information
Withdraw consent for marketing emails

To use any of these rights, contact me using the details below. I may need to verify your identity first. You can also have an authorized agent make a request for you, with proof that you gave them permission. I won't treat you differently for using your rights. If you disagree with how I handle a request, you may be able to appeal by contacting me, or file a complaint with your local data protection authority.

13. Marketing Emails
If you subscribe, I may send you emails about new arrivals and news from Reading Vintage. You can unsubscribe anytime using the link in any email. Even if you unsubscribe, I'll still send emails about your orders.

14. Links to Other Websites
My website may link to sites I don't own or control. Their privacy practices are their own, so please review their policies. Anything you share publicly on social media can be seen by others.

15. Changes to This Policy
I may update this policy from time to time. When I do, I'll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
