Vintage bronze and pewter merchant figure on marble base, styled as a Middle Eastern tea seller with tray and vessel, full of mid-century character.

Details

• Type: handmade figural sculpture
Era: likely 1950s–1960s
Subject: Middle Eastern merchant or tea seller, shown carrying a tray and long vessel
Material: bronze and pewter-toned metal on a marble or onyx-style stone base
Measurements: approx. 7" tall x 4" wide x 3" deep
Weight: approx. 1.2 ounces, as provided
Color: warm bronze-brown body with lighter silvery oxidation on the tray and vessel, set on a creamy honey stone base with white veining
Texture: hand-finished metal surface with visible casting irregularities and natural patina; polished stone base with smooth sides

Style notes:

mid-century souvenir or decorative sculpture representing daily village life, with a simple modernist folk-art feel
Display appeal: small but expressive, with outstretched arms, a stylized face, and strong contrast between the dark figure and pale stone base

Suggested uses: bookshelf accent, global décor, vintage office shelf styling, small sculpture grouping, or gift for a collector of figural metalwork

Condition Grade: Good

• Positives: Figure is complete and displays well. Both arms, tray, and vessel are present. Metal figure remains firmly mounted to the stone base. Facial features and clothing details are still clear. Overall patina gives the piece a warm, aged look that suits the subject and era.
Issues / Wear: Noticeable oxidation and surface wear throughout, especially on the tray and the long vessel, where the finish has lightened and roughened. Scattered finish loss, rubbing, and age-darkening are visible across the figure. Stone base shows corner and edge chips, including visible losses at the front and underside corners. Underside has wear, residue, and a rusted mounting point. Surface irregularities from hand-finishing and age are present throughout.

Collector’s Notes

Similar figural pieces are commonly described on the secondary market as handmade bronze and pewter Middle Eastern market or tea seller figures from the 1950s–1960s, often mounted on stone bases and sold as decorative souvenirs or small sculptural accents.

A nice piece for someone who likes small sculptures with real age, visible patina, and a collected-travels feel.
