Birds of North America: A Guide to Field Identification is the classic Golden Field Guide by Chandler S. Robbins, Bertel Bruun, and Herbert S. Zim, illustrated by Arthur Singer. It covers the birds you are likely to see across North America north of Mexico, all in one pocket-size volume.
Every right-hand page carries Arthur Singer's color paintings, with the text right beside them on the facing page. You get field marks, habitat notes, range maps, flight silhouettes, and song charts, all laid out so you can match a bird quickly in the field. The loons, bay ducks, woodpeckers, and tropical buntings shown in the photos are just a few of the colorful plates inside.
It is easy to read and small enough to slide into your pocket when you are out birding. It is a favorite of longtime birders and a fun piece of mid-century nature publishing.
Positives: Graded Good. The color plates are bright, and the pages are full of information and easy to read. The binding is intact.
Issues / Wear: The front and back covers have minor wear, and the page edges have spotting and toning. A previous owner wrote their name on the inside front cover.

Every listing spells it out and shows it in photos. Chips, hairlines, crazing, worn plating, old repairs. If I did not mention it, it is not there.
Yes. Every photo is the actual piece, taken by me. When it sells, it is gone.
I note maker, mark, era, and measurements when I can confirm them, and say so plainly when I cannot. Unmarked pieces get dated by what the piece itself shows.
I process order within 2 business days, wrapped and boxed so it arrives the way it left here. Don't forget, free shipping on orders $35 and up.
