This is Among the Great Masters of Music by Walter Rowlands, an ornate 1900 hardcover from Dana Estes & Company of Boston with 32 reproductions of famous paintings.
The green cloth cover with its gilt title, columns, and garland design is bright, the pages are toned with uneven fore edges, and there are no rips or tears, as the photos show.
Rowlands writes about the lives of great musicians, including Palestrina, Tartini, Bach, Chopin, and Handel, and the chapters sit beside black and white plates such as Gluck at the Trianon, from a painting by E. J. C. Hamman, behind tissue guards with red captions. Calling cards found inside the book are included.

Every listing spells it out and shows it in photos. Chips, hairlines, crazing, worn plating, old repairs. If I did not mention it, it is not there.
Yes. Every photo is the actual piece, taken by me. When it sells, it is gone.
I note maker, mark, era, and measurements when I can confirm them, and say so plainly when I cannot. Unmarked pieces get dated by what the piece itself shows.
I process order within 2 business days, wrapped and boxed so it arrives the way it left here. Don't forget, free shipping on orders $35 and up.
