This Pitcairns Limited Colwyn 11 pitcher is an English Victorian transferware piece made in Tunstall, England, during the firm's short 1894 to 1901 production period.

The creamy glazed body has a plum to mulberry floral transfer pattern, a deeply shaped scalloped rim, and an ornate curved handle. At about 6 1/2 inches tall, it is a useful smaller pitcher for a tea table, flowers, or display with other late Victorian English pottery.

Collector's Notes

Pitcairns Limited operated in Tunstall for only a short period around the turn of the twentieth century. That narrow production window gives marked pieces a useful dating point.

The full Pitcairns Limited, Tunstall England, Colwyn 11 mark is still readable on the base. That matters to someone collecting the maker or trying to match another Colwyn piece.

This example still has its strongly shaped scalloped rim and ornate handle. The plum floral transfer has visible wear, so it reads as an old piece rather than a pristine decorative reproduction.
