The Wonderful World of Natural-Food Cookery by Eleanor Levitt is a 1971 Hearthside Press hardcover cookbook, identified on the dust jacket as the second large printing and containing a handwritten inscription that reads "Good health! Eleanor Levitt."
Built around natural foods and home cooking, this 320 page cookbook offers hundreds of recipes using vegetables, grains, seeds, beans, nuts, breads, soups, meats, desserts, and other everyday ingredients. Visible recipes include Easy Pumpkin Soup, Pumpkin Vegetable Soup, Soy Bean Soup, Sunflower Soup, Sesame Soup, and Tomato Soup with Sunflower Seeds.
Complete, intact, and readable. Pages are reported clean. Dust jacket shows edge wear, rubbing, small tears, creasing, worn corners, age toning, and scattered staining. Page ends show staining and age discoloration. An August 1, 1931 Farmer's Guide mushroom clipping was stored inside and is included; the aged clipping has brittle, torn edges and has left visible offset discoloration on the neighboring endpaper. A handwritten inscription reads "Good health! Eleanor Levitt." The name matches the author, but autograph authenticity has not been independently verified.
The 1971 publication date places this cookbook in the era when natural food cooking was becoming a recognizable category in American home kitchens. The combination of the inscription and the 1931 mushroom clipping gives this copy a particularly interesting history.
