This is The Short Stories of Charles Dickens, published by Easton Press in 1978 as a leather bound collector's edition in The 100 Greatest Books Ever Written series.
The book has no rips or tears, and the photos show the leather, gilt, and page edges exactly as they are.
Inside are Dickens's shorter pieces, from early London sketches like Horatio Sparkins and The Bloomsbury Christening to the later Mrs. Lirriper's Lodgings, a good fit for anyone collecting Easton Press Dickens.

Horatio Sparkins and The Bloomsbury Christening first appeared in the 1830s and were collected in Sketches by Boz, Dickens's first book. Mrs. Lirriper's Lodgings came nearly thirty years later as a Christmas story in his magazine All the Year Round, so this volume covers most of his working life.
It suits the Easton Press collector filling out the 100 Greatest Books shelf, and the Dickens reader who has already been through the big novels and wants the shorter work.
Easton Press sold this series by subscription, one volume at a time, which is why these books turn up alone at estate sales and why finding the one you are missing takes some looking. There is one of these. That is not a sales tactic, it is a used book.
A good book to hand someone who says they never have time for a whole Dickens novel.

Care and Handling
Handle with clean, dry hands. Store upright, out of direct sunlight, at about 68°F and 40 to 50% relative humidity. Avoid damp areas and extreme temperature swings.
Yes. Every photo on this page is the actual item you will receive. Not a stock photo, not a similar copy. What you see is what ships.
Honestly. This is vintage, so expect some age. When I find wear, writing, stains, loose pages, chips, or missing pieces, I note them and show them in the photos. Some marks add character. Some are just flaws. I tell you which is which so you can decide if this is the right one for you.
With care. Old books and fragile pieces are wrapped and boxed so they arrive the way they left me. Careful packing is one of the things buyers mention most in their reviews. Orders of $35 or more ship free.
Probably not. Everything here is one of a kind, and I rarely find the same item twice. Once it sells, it is gone. Vintage does not restock neatly.
