This is The Army of the Potomac, a three volume set by Bruce Catton from Doubleday & Co.: Mr. Lincoln's Army (1962), Glory Road (1952), and A Stillness at Appomattox (1953), all hardcover with dust jackets.
The covers show wear and there is pencil writing on an inside page, while all three volumes are here in their dust jackets, as the photos show.
Catton follows the Union's eastern army from its early struggles under McClellan, through the road to Gettysburg under Hooker and Meade, to the Wilderness Campaign and the surrender at Appomattox. A Stillness at Appomattox won the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award in 1954.

This Doubleday set keeps all three Catton volumes together in their dust jackets, and it belongs on a Civil War history shelf. If it's the right copy for you, it's ready to come home.
Every item is honestly described and carefully packed. These are vintage pieces, so light age-related wear comes with them. I show and describe what I see so you know what to expect.

Every listing spells it out and shows it in photos. Chips, hairlines, crazing, worn plating, old repairs. If I did not mention it, it is not there.
Yes. Every photo is the actual piece, taken by me. When it sells, it is gone.
I note maker, mark, era, and measurements when I can confirm them, and say so plainly when I cannot. Unmarked pieces get dated by what the piece itself shows.
I process order within 2 business days, wrapped and boxed so it arrives the way it left here. Don't forget, free shipping on orders $35 and up.
