Betty Crocker is a fictitious personality created by the American company General Mills in the 1920s. The company's goal was to create an image of an idealized American woman who could be trusted to provide reliable information about cooking and baking.

The name "Betty Crocker" is used as a synonym for a housewife who cooks family meals and treats. "Betty" was picked for its friendliness and familiarity, while "Crocker" was chosen to memorialize a former CEO with that last name.
