Description

The Alhambra is a collection of essays, verbal sketches, and stories by Washington Irving about the Moors and Spaniards. It was referred to as the author's "Spanish Sketch Book." Irving lived at the Alhambra for three months in 1829 and scribbled down notes concerning its history and stories.

Alongside the history of the Moorish kingdom of Granada, Irving intersperses tales (both historical and mythical) of enchanted caves, imprisoned princesses, and buried treasure. His respect for Islamic tradition is evident throughout.

The Alhambra is a leather-bound book with gold gilt pages and is an excellent addition to your vintage historical guidebook collection or Easton Press library.

A truly gorgeously handsome volume, designed to become an heirloom, is in collectible and gift-giving condition.
