The book Encounters tells the story of Dorothy Norman who was a rare and overlooked voice from inside the artistic and social revolutions of the twentieth century. Norman was close with a wide swath of mid-century artists and political history-makers, beginning in the late 1920s.
As a social activist, writer, editor, and publisher, she in turn influenced the New York intellectual community. Her personal life path became a deep and persistent spiritual quest, guided intimately by her mentor, the photographer Alfred Stieglitz. This is a fascinating and sensitive memoir.
Encounters A Memoir Dorthy Norman is an excellent addition to your vintage social activist book collection or home library.
