About the Author: Jay Massey

Jay Massey was more than just a bowhunter—he was a man of the wilderness, a champion of adventure, and an advocate for ethical hunting. Known for his minimalist approach, Massey avoided technological shortcuts and celebrated the art of bowhunting with handmade bows, arrows, and broadheads.

His life revolved around adventure, from living in a teepee in the remote bush to floating along wild rivers. Although he may not have taken many animals, he focused on the thrill and romance of the hunt.

Massey’s dedication extended beyond hunting; he actively encouraged ethical hunting practices and worked closely with the Alaska Fish & Game Department to shape sustainable bowhunting regulations. His writings and contributions to The Bowyer's Bible and other periodicals have impacted the bowhunting community.
