About the Author: Maria Willett Howard

Maria Willett Howard was a prominent figure in early American culinary education. She served as an assistant to the legendary Fannie Merritt Farmer at the Boston Cooking School and became the interim principal of the school in 1902 when it merged with Simmons College.

Maria later became a professor of Household Economics, contributing significantly to the field of domestic science and teaching modern women how to navigate household management. Through her teaching, lectures, and cookbooks, Maria left a lasting legacy in the culinary world.
