Description

Rights of Man is a leather-bound book with gold gilt pages and is an excellent addition to your vintage history collection or Easton Press.

Paine's "The Rights of Man" was his response to Edmund Burke's aristocratic, anti-democratic "Reflections on the Revolution in France" (1790). The book of Thomas Paine affirms the principle of majority rule, declares that the state's goal is freedom, and claims that happiness is a natural right of all men.

Such principles might have been expected of a man living in America when the Declaration of Independence was signed. The publication of his powerful pamphlet "Common Sense" in January 1776 marked the beginning of the open movement for American independence. It "worked a powerful change in the minds of many men," according to Washington.
