If you live in New England or love old Vermont upper Connecticut River valley recipes, Yankee Hill Country Cooking is a treasure.
Written in 1963, it has so many old country recipes that are unheard of from the old people of the old days in the hill country of Vermont. Maole pies and mock cherry and old foods that were put by.
The woodcarvings are rustic thru out the book, and the descriptions of how the old people put food by for the long winters are beautiful and straightforward. However, some of the recipes need to be reformed as lard was used a lot.
Yankee Hill Country Cooking is an excellent addition to your vintage recipe collection or home library.
