The Flyers by George Barr McCutcheon illustrated by Harrison Fisher 1907 Dodd Mead & Company Antique Humorous Fictional Book

Description

The Flyers revolves around two couples who both choose to wed somebody who are not from their social class. In order to prevent any intrusive busybodies, both couples decide to elope simultaneously. Prior to a chance encounter, neither party is aware of the other, which causes turmoil for the remainder of the story.

This novella occasionally reads like something by Thomas Hardy or P. G. Wodehouse. The amount of people in some scenes makes it occasionally difficult to follow, which is funny but also reminiscent of Charles Dickens.

The Flyers is an excellent addition to your antique humorous novella collection or home library.
