There are huge iron-wheeled tractors at an exposition and in the fields, early touring cars and a delivery truck, a busy downtown street, family groups, a boy beside a Kitchen Bouquet crate, a ship at sea, and a postcard with a long note from a road trip through El Paso and Fabens, Texas.

Details

Item: Vintage snapshot photo and ephemera lot, 24 pieces including one stamp

Item Type: Vernacular photographs, postcard, and drugstore photo envelope

Era: About 1910s to 1940s

Materials: Black and white photographic prints and paper

Color: Black and white photos; yellow envelope

Maker and Mark: The Whitehead Drug Stores, Owosso, Michigan, Store No. 1 envelope with winged photo service logo and handwritten order details

Pattern or Model: Not confirmed from photos

Style: Vernacular photography

Dimensions: Envelope 7 in. by 4 3/4 in.; postcard 5 1/2 in. by 3 3/4 in.; officer portrait about 5 in. by 3 3/4 in.; Kitchen Bouquet snapshot 3 3/4 in. by 2 3/4 in.; other sizes vary

Special Features: Military, farm machinery, early cars, street scenes, family snapshots

Condition Grade: Good

Positives

Graded Good: Complete and usable, with clear signs of use, and every flaw is named below.

Kept together in the original envelope

Many clear, sharp images

Handwritten dates and notes on several backs

Issues / Wear

Age toning, curling, and edge wear on some photos

Paper loss and album residue on a few backs

Small tears and stains on the envelope

Find more like this in our Ephemera collection.

If you collect Michigan photo ephemera, this Owosso envelope and its 24 pieces give you farm, auto, and wartime images to look through.
