“There is no friend as loyal as a book.” ― Ernest Hemingway

Song and Garden Birds of North America with Bird Song Record by Alexander Wetmore, A Novel in the National Geographic Book Service, 1964

The story of 327 birds in 400 colorful pages. Here are the secrets of their lives, their courting rituals, their battles for territory. Included with this birding book is a bird song record album.

Published in 1964, the text, photographs, and artwork of this National Geographic book appear dated. That being said, this is a very nice book. It's not a field guide. Rather it is an appreciation of birds. As Roger Tory Peterson says in the final chapter, "…I have found in birds the finest expression of the natural world. They are quick, incisive, and beautiful. They respond instinctively to the laws of nature. They demonstrate clearly the subtle forces of natural selection and adaptation." A review by Billy on Goodreads

This book is in good shape for its age with no rips or tears. Please use pictures as a guide. Have any questions or need more pictures, just ask.
