Richard Hougen, the author of Look No Further believed that the secret of good cooking was a combination of simplicity in procedure, accurate measurements and the use of plenty of eggs, milk, butter, and cream.

This collection reflects his ideal. Many favorites are here including one of Hougen's and Boone Tavern Hotel located at Berea College Kentucky favorites, Southern Spoon Bread. Hougen called spoon bread "the richest, lightest and most delicious of all cornmeal bread.
