The court-martial of Union Major General Fitz John Porter was a significant event during the Civil War. He was removed from his command, but the decision overturned and was reinstated into the U.S. Army.


The author Eisenschiml, an Austrian-born chemist who became interested in Civil War history, wrote more than a dozen books on the subject.
